Why You Should Read “Fourth Wing” & “Iron Flame “(if you haven’t already)

No one is more surprised than me that I have fallen in love with fantasy books. I have always been more into reading mysteries, autobiographies and the like, but these types of books never interested me. Even when I had to read The Hobbit while in high school, I thought it was ok, but if I hadn’t had to read it for my English class I never would have picked it up.

Now, here I am, many years after leaving high school and I am loving fantasy books. Some of them have been out for a while and I am just catching onto them, and some are newly released.

My most recent find is currently a duology — Fourth Wing and Iron Flame, written by Rebecca Yarros. Together they are known as the Empyrean Series. If you are wanting to dip your toe into a fantasy world but don’t want a long series I recommend giving these books a go. At the moment there are two books in the series — Fourth Wing and Iron Flame. The third book is going to be released on 21st January 2025, so plenty of time to read the first two and then dive into the third.

The first book, Fourth Wing, introduces us to the world and all the characters. The main character is called Violet Sorrengail. The author, Rebecca Yarros, has confirmed that Violet has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, although this is not mentioned in the books. Due…
